The distinguished honour has been awarded by The Asset Benchmark Research, which publishes the reputable magazine “The Asset” for banks and asset managers in Asia.

A kind of Institutional Investor ranking for investors in Asia

Each year The Asset nominates the best analysts based on interviews with over 300 investors in Asian hard currency bonds. The best analysts are subsequently asked to nominate the investors they consider the best. The award has been given annually since 1999.

Søren Bertelsen is honoured and proud to have received the award, not least because the final selection is made by fellow investors and analysts from all over the world:

"Visiting businesses and analysts in each individual country is central to BankInvest’s investment activities. We consider it a vital part of operating in the market, and the award is testament to this," says Søren Bertelsen.

Søren is chief portfolio manager at BankInvest, where he has been part of the team behind BankInvest’s Emerging Markets bond funds since 2001. He himself has lived in Asia for a number of years.

"It was a privilege to properly get to know the market over the four years I lived in Singapore with my family. Although it has been seven years since we returned home, I still benefit greatly from the many contacts and experiences gained there," says Søren.

Asia makes up a considerable portion of investments in Emerging Markets Bonds. The region is responsible for the majority of new corporate bonds in EM.
